Avoid over-spending with the Daily Limit feature

Learn how to use the "Daily Limit" feature to prevent over-spending before it happens.

Updated today

Budget overspending is one of the biggest risks that agencies have.

The "Daily Limits" feature allows you to find out about a poorly configured budget even before the spend is generated.

Dashbo will allow you to generate "daily limit" alerts for each of the ad accounts you connect to a client.

For each one, it will allow you to set up an alert when:

-> A day's spend in the account exceeds a certain number.

-> The total daily budget set in the active campaigns of an account exceeds a certain number.

Important clarifications:

-> These alerts can be set up at the entire ad account level or for a single campaign.

-> This feature runs in parallel to the control lines generated in Dashbo.

-> In case of over-spending, Dashbo sends an email to the relevant users or will send an alert through the configured channels, like this:

How do I set up a daily limit?

To be able to view the daily limits, you must access:

Client > Monitoring > Daily Limits.

From here, the ad accounts assigned to each client in Dashbo and the daily limits configured for each one are displayed.

You can also view all the agency's ad accounts and daily limits from:

Agency Settings > Ad Accounts > "Daily limit" column

There are three options that Dashbo allows you to choose:

a) Daily limit at ad account level: I want to be alerted if the sum of all daily campaign budgets (set in the ad account) or the total daily spend exceeds a certain amount.

b) Daily limit at campaign level: I want to be alerted if the daily budget configured in a campaign of the ad account exceeds a certain value.

c) I do not want to configure any type of daily limit

Suggestions for using "Daily Limits"

  • Ideally, the limit should be between x3 and x5 of the client's optimal daily budget spend. Otherwise, you might receive too many emails.

  • On special dates when you are going to increase the budget abruptly, remember to modify the account limits.

Frecuently Asked Questions

How often is account spend checked?

It's checked every 30 minutes.

How do I make Dashbo only notify me if the limit is exceeded? I don't want it to pause the campaigns.

In that case, you can go to the client's settings and disable the setting there.

Who are the alerts sent to?

An email is sent to all users associated with the client.

Where are the currency exchange rates obtained from?

They are sourced from this Open Exchange Rates API.

What value do you recommend for the daily limit?

We suggest that the limit be between x3 to x5 of the client's optimal daily budget spend (in the video we use x2 as an example). It is normal behavior for the platform to spend up to x2 of the daily budget.

A Cyber, Hot Sale, etc. is coming up and we're going to increase the budgets sharply for a few days. What should we do?

On special dates when you're going to increase the budget abruptly, remember to modify the account limits. Then when the event ends, you return to the usual numbers.
